In the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, our family found a calling that combined our love for dogs with our dedication to excellence. Decades ago, we encountered our first full English Labrador and were captivated by their gentle temperament, striking conformation, and unmatched loyalty. That moment ignited a passion that has driven us ever since.
From a small beginning, our kennel has grown into one of the world’s premier breeders of English Labradors. Through years of experience and unwavering commitment, we’ve built a reputation for producing dogs that are not just pets, but lifelong companions. Every Labrador we raise reflects the values of our family: integrity, care, and a relentless pursuit of quality.
A Mission of Compassion
At Smoky Mtn Labradors, our mission extends far beyond breeding world-class English Labradors. We are deeply committed to giving back to the communities that have shaped us. Locally, we support families in the Appalachian Mountains through food relief and education programs. Globally, we work tirelessly to bring hope and opportunity to impoverished communities in Africa through our organization, The Lord’s Child®.
Each puppy we place into a loving home contributes to these efforts. From funding school buildings in Uganda to digging wells that provide clean water, every Labrador carries with them a legacy of compassion and change. We are proud that our kennel not only brings joy to families but also helps improve lives around the world.

Our kennel is built on a foundation of love for Labradors and the people who raise them. Gene Wolfenbarger, along with his father and brother, lead our team with decades of combined experience. Gene’s passion for dogs began in his childhood, growing into a lifelong dedication to breeding exceptional Labradors.
Karen Wolfenbarger has played an integral role in extending our family’s love and care to the less fortunate. Together, they’ve turned their shared vision into a reality that touches lives both locally and globally. At Smoky Mtn Labradors, we believe that the love and loyalty we see in our dogs are best honored by sharing that love with others.
